Amplitude Scan (A-Scan)

The fundamental guided waves test results is the A-Scan which consists of the reflection amplitude of the torsional (black solid trace) and the flexural (red flexural trace) plotted against pipe axial position.

The A-scan will provide information on:

  • Type of defect or pipe feature
  • Location of defect or pipe feature
  • Estimated cross-sectional change

Quick Schematic

A pipe schematic is automatically generated by the software as the inspector inputs details of the inspected pipe.

The Quick Schematic is useful for:

  • Summarised overview of inspected lines with their features and defects
  • Illustration for report preparation

Report Generator

Once the data has been analysed by a qualified inspector, the data can be automatically compiled into a single report which would include the A-scan, reflection annotations and operator notes.

The report can be output into several formats:

  • PDF Files (.pdf)
  • Word Document (.doc)
  • Excel Spreadsheet (.xls)

Unrolled Pipe Display (C-Scan)

A digital image of the unrolled pipe (C-scan) can be generated through the use of advanced post-processing data analysis. Defects and pipe features can be easily distinguished by using the C-scan since the axial position and pipe orientation can be determined.

Absolute Calibration

This feature allows automatic distance-amplitude correction (DAC) calibration to features such as welds and flanges to ensure that:

  • The DAC value can be calibrated accurately according to the reflection amplitude of the actual feature.
  • Severity of defects can be accounted for more accurately.

Reverberation Simulation

This feature allows simulation of reverberations to reduce the chances of false positive calls caused by false echoes originating from:

  • Reverberation echoes due to the presence of two large features between the ring
  • Mirrored echoes due to present of noise or poor ring coupling
  • Phantom ring echoes which can occur in small diameter pipes
